Although, the registration under MSME has not been made compulsory by the Government of India. But it is strongly recommended to obtain the registration for availing the benefits available.

An enterprise shall be classified as a micro, small or medium enterprise on the basis of the following criteria, namely: --

Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme and Other Credit Support Schemes
Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme(PMEGP)
Credit Guarantee Trust Fund for Micro & Small Enterprises (CGTMSE)
Interest Subsidy Eligibility Certificate (ISEC)
