Food Safety Registrations

Overview

The government of India through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has established the Food Safety Standards Authority of India for providing food safety-related services to the food business operators and citizens of our country.

Documents Required

Photo

Government issued Photo ID such as AADHAAR, PAN, Voter ID etc.

Compliance

Once registered under the FSSAI, the business operator shall comply with the norms and regulations prescribed by the departments.

Others

NetProFaN: Network of Professionals of Food and Nutrition
NetProFaN is envisaged as a platform, hosted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), to leverage the collective strengths of the professional associations and bodies in food and nutrition, to foster innovations and enhance complementarity across these bodies.

Registration

There are primarily 3 types of registrations granted for food business operators. They are

Validity

Application for registration can be submitted for at most 5 years and a minimum of 1 year

Regulations

Apart from the acts and rules following Food Safety and Standards Regulations are required to be complied with as far as applicable to them

Food Safety Mitra

FSSAI is creating an ecosystem of food safety mitras who will help FBOs with licensing and registration, training and auditing hygiene at different institutions such as schools, colleges and corporate campuses.
